Jessica Newman ( founder and Executive Director of JustWorld International) and other members of the JustWorld team visited PIO today and were welcomed with open arms and honoured with traditional Cambodia dancing provided by the children from the school.
JustWorld is a major contributor to the activities of the schools administered by PIO and without their continued support the children be unable to continue their education, in the way they do currently.
Jessica Newman is the Founder and Executive Director of JustWorld International. She began working in the non-profit sector in 1999. Her humanitarian experience includes establishing the Honduras branch of the Trickle Up Program; actively participating in the Friends World Experiential Education Program in Costa Rica and Nicaragua; volunteering at the ‘Crisis Center’ for street children in Casa Alianza, Honduras; and collaborating on policy advocacy at Oxfam America. Ms. Newman holds a B.A. in International Affairs from The American University of Paris.
How much the kids actually understand about the importance of JWI is difficult to say, they were certainly happy to see their visitors and as always the welcome was palpable, with lots of happy faces and clapping of hands. The people from JWI help make an education possible for these most underprivileged children.
As always the kids surround the guest with love and happiness. These beautiful kids deserve and work hard for everything they get and I am sure as they grow more aware of what JWI does they will be even more solid in their appreciation.
The team from JWI visited other part of the PIO project seeing the training areas for hairdressing and tailoring/seamstress where kids learn skill that they can use in the future.
The kids from the PIO Orphanage also received a visit.
I am sure the Phymean, the Staff and the Pupils of PIO would like me to thank Jessica and her team for their continuous support and hard work.
